The forerunner of the modern T Puzzle is the Latin Cross puzzle with 5 elements.
By removing the ‘’head’’ of the cross and shortening the central element, we get our modern T Puzzle with only 4 elements that is cleverer and more complicated than the classic T-Cross puzzle.
The earliest T puzzles date from around 1900. Most T puzzles come with a leaflet with additional figures to be constructed. Which shapes can be formed depends on the relative proportions of the different pieces. At present T puzzles come in standardized proportions which allow the construction of many additional shapes. The most important types are Asymmetric, Nob`s and Gardner`s T puzzles
This version of the T Puzzle got its name from the inventor Martin Gardner, a popular American mathematician and science writer.
